Asogli State comprises four traditional set-ups, Akoefe, Ho, Kpenoe and Takla. These four traditional set-ups were founded by the direct descendants of Togbe Kakla. Ho serves as the seat of the paramountcy. Ho is also the Volta Regional capital and has over the years legitimately assumed prominence. The Asogli State Council comprises the Agbogbomefia who is the President, the Paramount Chiefs of Akoefe, Kpenoe and Takla and the five Divisional Chiefs of Ho. What is now known as Asogli Traditional Area is made up of thirty-three traditional areas including Asogli State. This is most often referred to as Amalgamated Asogli Traditional Area. The Agbogbomefia of Asogli State automatically assumes the role of President of the Asogli Traditional Council, the traditional governing council. Bankoe Division
Among these five divisions, Bankoe is the seat of the paramountcy and is administered by the Agbogbomefia who is assisted by a host of traditional office holders. They include: the Afetorfia Gbedodala, who is in charge of the customs and traditional practices of the state; the Atamfia, the custodian and administrator of the Great Oath of the Asogli State; the Tsiamiga, the paramount linguist, whose staff of office announces the presence and authority of the Agbogbomefia. There are other equally important office holders who serve on the council of elders of the paramountcy. The Bankoe Division takes the "Air (the waste) of any customarily slaughtered animal symbolising its position and authority as the seat of the paramountcy.
Heve Division
The Heve Division is lead by the Ngogbefia or the Chief Vanguard, Togbe Anikpi III. The administrative set-up of Ho also defines the security and military structure, which was quite relevant in the olden days of inter-tribal warfare. The Heve Division therefore performed the traditional military function of spying on the enemy and providing intelligence for the main army divisions in times of war. During peace time, the role of the Heve people involved providing leadership in the identification and recommendation of development projects, which would facilitate the progress of the community. Their portion of a customarily slaughtered animal is called the Anyinor.
Ahoe Division
Positioned on the right wing of the traditional administration is the Dusimefia. This position is held by the chief of Ahoe, Togbe Kasa III. He is the main spokesman of the traditional administration, hence he takes the Egla (the jaw) of any customarily slaughtered animal.
Dome Division
This division was very instrumental in thel 8th century victorious exploits of the people of Ho on the battlefield. Dome is headed by tho Awafiaga of Ho, Togbe Adzie Lakle Howusu III, Who also doubles as the commander of the left wing of the local troops. The Awafiaga takes the Akor (the chest) of any customarily slaughtered animal, symbolising readiness to face the enemy during war. At peace time, he stands ready to provide leadership in the implementation of any developmental programmes that the people may decide to undertake.
Hliha Division
The people of Hliha occupy the rear of the administrative set-up. They are lead by the Megbefia, or the Rear Guard Chief, Togbe Afele II.. Their main function is that of maintenance of peace and stability All customary rites aimed at fostering peace are therefore performed at Hliha. The Megbefia takes the Akasia of any customarily slaughtered animal. ESTABLISHING THE ASOGLI STATE COUNCIL
At Komedzrale, the status or positions of authority and administrations were prescribed for the three ancestral states from Glime- this were symbolically denoted by the portions of state animals (ritualistic animals) accorded the various states of Akoefe, Kpenoe, Takla and Ho respectively.
Ho, the seat of the Paramountcy and the custodian-in-chief as well as the war leader (Awafiaga) took the ALI (seat) and AKO (war leader).Akoe received GLA (jaw) for his position as “Ametsitsie and principal spokesman for the Asogli State . The GLATAMELA went to Kpenoe for the third rank whiles Takla was given the ABOGBE, the fourth position in the traditional area (Refer to status below)
Just after the world war, at around 1930 when the English entered Eweland they encountered several scattered groups of people. In order to foster a convenient administration, a D.C was posted to Ho. He were advice of the conglomeration/congregation of these scatted groups of formidable states. They were guided by similarities in customs/cultural, and common language, with a common love for this amalgamation.
Already the state of Asogli had been in existence and comprised Ho, Akoefe Kpenoe and Takla. Other twenty-eight (28) divisions saw the wisdom and joined the Asogli State . Those included Abutia, Sokode, Akrofu, Klefe, Ziavi, Taviefe, Matse, Anfoeta, Hlefi, Tsyome and Etodome.Others were Kpale, Goviefe, Lume, Ave, Shia, Atikpui, Nyive,Tokokoe,Tanyigbe, Adaklu and Hodzo. The rest were Agotime, Ziofe, Dzalele, Dakpa, Hoviefe and Akoviefe. As a sign of unity and solidarity as well as for the promotion and protection of a common cause /interest, they re-elevated the Fiaga of Ho or the Agbogbomefi with the highest acknowledgement. All these states have since been swearing the oath of allegiance to Ho/Asogli as the highest traditional council of the amalgamation in Ho.
